Jason Morphew releases 'Sunday Afternoon' ![]() // In September 2004, Jason Morphew recorded his first feature film score in the clapboard shed behind his bassist pal Rod Bryan's house in Little Rock. Two years later, the film hasn't been released and Rod is running for governor of Arkansas, but here comes the music Morphew and his friends came up with. All recorded live, the instrumentals sound something like J.J. Cale sitting in with Air, and the songs sound a little like a redneck Replacements. Featuring a harp, saxophones, pedal and lap steels, a derelict classical guitar missing the D string, arguing band members, looped beats recorded live through a Peavey guitar amp, stolen rum, crickets, a song for his sister that Morphew wrote at age eight, and a snoring pug named Hanky who soon after the sessions perished in a Wal-Mart parking lot, Sunday Afternoon's 17 new tracks find Morphew back at home in chaos and beauty. ![]() Trouble submitting your story?
