Soophie Nun Squad releases The Devil, The Metal, the Big Booty Beats
Nate Powell // We had toured four times before this album came out, but the tour of 2000 was the first time that people out-of-state really freaked out about Soophie, or knew any of the words or humiliating dances. Generally, we dressed up like idiots on tour because it was that much funnier when playing in a shrimp bar in front of the pre-season UNC Tarheels team while they tried to watch a movie being played behind you. Somehow, after this record came out, folks would actually show up in costume, or with an independently-devised "audience theme", and our reasons for doing what we do, for such jubilance, changed greatly.
